Freddie Smith
Freddie Smith plays the role of Sonny Kiriakis on NBC Daytime‘s “Days of our Lives.” The characters of Sonny and Will (Chandler Massey) have been involved in one of the most buzzed about storylines, as the two have become romantically involved. The two may have broken up, but Freddie teased there is more to come with Will and Sonny:
“We film three months in advance, so I am lost in what we are doing now. I look back and watch the episodes and go, ‘I remember shooting that.’ It’s intense and continues to pick up. Will and Sonny have been on such a ride these past few months, and I am glad people are responding to it.
All I can say is that Will and Sonny are working on being friends right now, but they still care and love each other very much. Valentine’s Day is about love and romance, so MAYBE their friendship will spark back into a relationship. ‘Friendship’ may not be a good word and makes everyone nervous, but I have faith in WilSon.”
One of the things I like about the story, which a lot of people agree with, is that it does showcase the relationship of Will and Sonny as any other real couple without stigmas attached to it. The two go through the pain, happiness, all things a couple faces on daytime television. Another attribute to the story is how Nick Fallon (Blake Berris) is reacting to the characters. Freddie gave us some insight into playing off of Blake:
“You will find out Nick’s reasons for acting the way he does in a few months, but Blake brings so much to the role. He’s so intimidating and really good at playing this character. If you ever talk to him, he is nothing like Nick. His acting ability is off the charts. I often tell him, ‘Dude, your scenes? I will re-watch your scenes.’ I love having scenes with Blake, and me (Sonny) and him (Nick) don’t like each other. It’s kind of cool to play opposite of someone who really hates you, so it’s a fun thing to do.”
I, personally, cannot express how much support I have seen for “WilSon” show up in the past few days on Twitter and other forms of social media. Freddie briefly spoke about the fan reactions to the pairing and how many have taken notice:
“At first it was all kind of new to me, and then I started to realize how many tweets I was getting and hearing how people talk about it. Another thing that blows my mind that if you go to YouTube and type in ‘Days of our Lives,’ 7 of the 8 things that pop up are Will and Sonny. It blew me away! I went back to watch a few scenes for Emmy submission, and I told Chandler, ‘You know we have videos of our kiss and love scenes that have over 100,000 views?’ This was absolutely amazing to see how much of a following we have.”
